Chris Brown’s banner year keeps getting better. The R&B superstar has been announced as a performer for this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.
Breezy will return to the VMA stage to perform for the first time since 2007. He is nominated for two awards at the 28th annual show including Best Hip-Hop Video and Best Collaboration for “Look at Me Now.”
“I am excited about my nominations and to be back on the VMA stage,” stated Brown. “I have a special performance planned for my wonderful fans.”
Additionally, his collaborator Lil Wayne has officially joined the lineup. The YMCMB rapper will perform a song off his highly-anticipated album Tha Carter IV, which is scheduled to go on sale at iTunes immediately following his performance.
“Being a nominee and performer on the VMAs once again is an honor because everyone doesn’t get that opportunity,” said Wayne, who is up for two awards including Best Hip-Hop Video. “Looking forward to performing on the show, and having Tha Carter IV drop the same week!”
Seven-time nominee Adele will make her way across the Atlantic for her inaugural VMA performance. The British export will bring down the house with material off her best-selling album of the year, 21.
The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards will air live on Sunday, August 28, from the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
