Following his energetic guitar-smashing VMA performance on Sunday night (Aug. 28), experts are predicting that Lil Wayne will likely land the second-highest selling album of the year with 'Tha Carter IV,' which was released at 12AM following the awards ceremony.
The highly anticipated follow-up to Wayne's infamous 'Tha Carter III,' which sold 1.01 million copies in its first week back in 2008, is projected to sell between 700,000 and 850,000 copies by week's end, almost doubling Jay-Z and Kanye West's 'Watch the Throne,' which sold 436,000 in its first week, and putting it at a close second only to Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way,' which sold 1.11 million.
'Tha Carter IV' will easily topple 'Watch the Throne' from it's No. 1 perch on Billboard's 200 next week as well, making it Weezy's third No. 1 album.
The Young Money leader's last two 2010 efforts performed much less successfully -- 'Rebirth' debuted at No. 2 with 176,000 copies sold in the first week back in February, and 'I Am Not a Human Being' hit No. 1, with 110,000 copies sold in September.
Lil Wayne's 9th album 'Tha Carter IV' is in stores now.
