MTV better beef up on security. Bruno Mars and adversary Odd Future will collide at this year’s Video Music Awards.
The “Grenade” singer will cap off a successful year by hitting the stage at the VMAs. He is nominated for four awards including Video of the Year, and will perform a song off his platinum debut Doo-Wops & Hooligans.
“We’re thrilled to have Bruno Mars bring his exceptional talent to the VMA stage,” said Amy Doyle, Executive Producer of the 2011 VMAs and EVP, Music & Talent, MTV. “He is one of the most exciting live performers today and with his artistic versatility, he will undoubtedly deliver a standout performance.”
Odd Future will bring the ruckus to the VMA stage as presenters. Frontman Tyler, the Creator is up for two awards, including Video of the Year. He previously tweeted that he would get violent if he lost to Mars, who he famously attacked on his single “Yonkers.” “IF I FUCKING LOSE TO FUCKING BRUNO FUCKING MARS IM GOING ON A KILLING SPREE. DEADASS,” he wrote.
Other presenters at the 28th annual show include Rick Ross, Kim Kardashian, Selena Gomez, Seth Rogen, and Jonah Hill, while Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, and Adele are scheduled to perform.
The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles on Sunday, August 28, at 9 p.m.
