R. Kelly Speaks Out to Fans After Throat Surgery -- Watch

R. Kelly recorded a message to his fans after undergoing emergency throat surgery last month.

The controversial 'Ignition' singer was rushed to Chicago's Northwestern Memorial hospital on July 19, to have an abscess on one his tonsils drained, and was officially discharged shortly after.

In the message, a gravelly-voiced Kells speaks from behind a white surgical mask and shades, thanking all the "prayer warriors" for supporting him, despite the various troubles that continue to follow the 44-year-old singer.

"I want to say thanks to all the prayer warriors out there for supporting me, praying for me," he said, between coughs. "The doctor said the surgery went well. I know it may not look like it, but it did. I want y'all to continue to pray for me. Be strong out there, I will be back. I know it's a lot of negativity out there, please don't believe the hype. God is good all the time."

Despite his recent throat surgery, Kelly added that he plans to begin recording his new album as soon as possible. "Soon as I get a chance, I'm going back in the studio to work on my next album," he continued.

Kelly just completed the U.S. leg of his Love Letter tour. It is not yet known when he will be able to resume touring or recording.
