Ester Dean Honored At BMI Pop Awards



BMI honored some of the top writers, and music publisher at their 60th annual Pop Awards held in Beverly Hills, Calif. Tuesday (May 15) night. Singer/songwriter, Ester Dean was the night's big winner earning several trophies including the coveted Songwriter of the Year award alongside Pitbull, and writer Benny Blanco. The five songs on BMI's yearly most performed list included Rihanna's “What's My Name,” “Rude Boy,” and “S&M,” all of which were written by Dean. Pitbull, was not in attendance, but was recognized for penning “Give Me Everything,” featuring Ne-Yo, and Usher's “DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love.” The night's other top honors went to songwriter, Carol King, who received the BMI Icon Award for her the “unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers.”
