Fresh off the success of her latest single 'Break My Heart,' singer Estelle wants to test out her rap skills on the song's remix. Although the British songstress became popular stateside for her vocal ability, she began her career as a rapper and has no problem sliding back into her old shoes.
"I started as a rapper, my first album ['The 18th Day'] was damn near all rap, so people know me as a rapper from home," Estelle tells The Boombox. "This wasn't scary, I enjoyed rapping again. I felt like I needed to spit some bars."
For the remix to 'Break My Heart,' the 31-year-old is gearing up to release two separate versions to cater to fans in the U.S. and across the pond. "I wanted one for the UK and one for the US," she explains. "I got Swizz Beatz, Raekwon and I have Rich 32 back in London on the second remix. On the first remix is Busta Rhymes, Jadakiss and myself."
In putting together the music for her third album, 'All of Me,' Estelle previously told The Boombox that she took her time and "lived through some things," which she used as inspiration for songs featured on the project.
'All of Me,' the follow-up to her 2008 sophomore LP 'Shine,' is due out later this year.
