The music exec turned reality-TV judge is denying reports that he called both Beyonce and Gaga "boring," when asked about their potential by British tabloid The Mirror.
"This was completely misreported. It's the complete opposite, in fact," Cowell's rep told Radaronline.com. "Simon is a massive fan of both [Gaga and Beyonce] and he always refers to them as amongst the artists he most admires. He thinks they are two of the most interesting, talented and relevant artists today."
In a separate interview with the gossip site, Cowell doted on the music stars for their "unbelievable" success, and singled out Beyonce's achievements, calling her "the biggest star we've seen in 20 years; we're seeing sort of the rise of the super female pop star. It's like a different breed." Cowell also praised Gaga's "ambition," calling her a "total, utter star." Though he is alleged to have also thrown Katy Perry in the "boring" pool, she did not receive any such praise.
Regardless of Cowell's opinions, since going solo, Beyonce has been immensely successful, recently topping Forbes' list of Highest Paid Celebrity-Couples alongside her husband, Jay-Z. The pair brought in a $72 million between May 2010 and May 2011 alone. Gaga has done well for herself as well, topping Forbes' Best-Paid Celebrities Under 30, bringing home a whopping $90 million between May 2010 and May 2011.
