Sean Kingston Opens Up About Jet Ski Accident, Open Heart Surgery

Sean Kingston

Sean Kingston is finally opening up about his life-threatening jet ski accident, which took place back in May and left the reggae crooner in the hospital for more than a month.

The Miami resident sat down with MTV News' Sway to detail the events surrounding the tragic event. Before he went into his experience, Kingston proclaimed that he was currently on the right path. "I'm doing good, I'm feeling great," he said with a smile. "I'm blessed. I'm happy to be here. It was a tragic situation, but God pulled me through it."

Kingston, 21, received a broken jaw, shattered wrist, lung damage that included excess water and was on a ventilator for nine days as a result of crashing into a bridge while riding on a jet ski, but that wasn't the most serious of his injuries. "A lot of people don't know it was a deeper situation," Kingston revealed. "I had open heart surgery and like two other surgeries so it was real crazy it was a life or death situation."

The 'Beautiful Girls' creator also explained that a passenger who was riding on the jet ski with him prior to the crash made a full recovery from the accident. Before crashing, Kingston recalled trying to slow down as he approached the bridge, while riding at 40mph and wearing a life vest, however, it was a "close call" and the entertainer could do little to escape coming in contact with the structure.

Sean Kingston is currently in good health, having lost 45 pounds since the jet ski accident. The 'Fire Burning' star, who is a well-known friend of Justin Bieber's, also plans to keep up the weight loss and aims to get rid of another 20 pounds.
