Bob Dylan's Grandson Drops Mixtape, Says Bob Is 'Jay-Z'

It's no stretch of the imagination to expect Bob Dylan's grandson to be musically inclined -- son Jakob already proved those family genes pack a powerful punch. But the news Friday (July 22) that Pablo Dylan (son of the eldest Dylan son, Jesse) is staking his claim as a bona fide hip-hop star, well, that wasn't something any of us saw coming.

There will be no folky troubadour routine from the ambitious 15-year-old. Instead, Pablo is kick-starting his rap career with '10 Minutes,' a hip-hop mixtape featuring cuts like 'Top of the World.'

In an interview with AllHipHop (via Exclaim), Pablo paid respect to his gramps, and rather aptly, too, considering his hip-hop headspace. "I mean, really, my grandfather, I consider him the Jay-Z of his time," he said. "And he definitely has a legacy that a lot of people look up to. He feels strongly about my music and I love him to death."

"What I have done, I mean from a musical and personal standpoint, is definitely influenced by him," he added. "Everyone around me influences me, and I have learned so much from him just listening to his records, but I hope his music continues to live on through what I continue to do the rest of my life."

Which begs the question: When is Pablo going ask Bob to guest on a track?

Luckily Pablo already has his next project lined up, going head-to-head with Darnell Robinson and Young Money's Lil Chuckee for a new single, so Bob has a bit of time to brush up on his rhymes.
