Amy Winehouse's Record Label Issues Statement, Album Sales Soar



Late Grammy-winning singer Amy Winehouse's record label, Universal Music Group, has issued a statement on the 27 year-old's unexpected death over the weekend.
In addition to UMG's statement, the singer's album sales have reportedly soared since her Saturday (July 23) passing.
Universal Music Group issued the following statement today following the death of Amy Winehouse: "We are deeply saddened at the sudden loss of such a gifted musician, artist, performer and friend. Our prayers go out to Amy's family, friends and fans at this difficult time." At the moment, she is dominating the front page of iTunes, with Back to Black at #1, and her first album, Frank, at #6. Amy Winehouse's last public appearance came three days before her death, when she appeared on stage with Dionne Bromfield at the iTunes Festival. In a surprise appearance at the Roundhouse, Camden, on Wednesday evening, Winehouse joined her god-daughter onstage for a rendition of 'Mama Said'. Winehouse danced on stage and urged the audience to buy Bromfield's album before leaving. (Telegraph UK)
