Common Toasts Book Release in Chicago

Common

The champagne was freely flowing as Common celebrated the release of his new memoir One Day It’ll All Make Sense with a rooftop soirée hosted by the Moet Rose Lounge in his hometown of Chicago on Tuesday night. The rapper-actor, who is currently on a nationwide book tour, was presented with a three-tier cake and signed books for guests.

It took convincing to get the book on shelves. “I was opposed to it even when the idea was mentioned to me. I didn’t think I was at a place in my life or career where I could write a book and have something to say,” Common told inReads.com. “But I thought about it when my manager talked to me about what the perspective of the book could be. It’s about the relationship with my mother and the type of human being I’m growing to be and how I want to pass that on to other people, including the people I love.”

He will soon shift gears and start promoting the November 22 release of his ninth album The Dreamer, The Believer, which features the Nas-assisted single “Ghetto Dreams.”
