Jay-Z is coming home. The hip-hop impresario and Brooklyn native has announced that he will open the Nets’ new Brooklyn arena with a series of concerts next fall.

The 41-year-old rapper, who is part owner of the team, appeared at a press conference on Monday to reveal the Nets’ official name. “We have decided that the official name for the Nets will be the Brooklyn Nets,” said a proud Jay, who will move the franchise from New Jersey to Brooklyn for the 2012-13 season. “See I’m really giddy right now.”

He will also launch the 18,000-seat Barclays Center at Atlantic Yards with eight shows beginning in late September 2012. “I’m gonna open the building with a couple of concerts—one or two or eight,” he said. Dates have yet to be announced.

During a live interview with “Good Day New York,” the music mogul was also questioned about becoming a dad.

When asked if he was nervous about fatherhood, the well-dressed Jay said, “No, I’m not nervous. Everything’s great,” while shooting down rumors of Beyoncé’s pregnancy cravings.

He admitted that he knows the baby’s gender, but would not share it with the public. “We do, but I’m not gonna say, of course.”
